Nox Track Teams win District Championships

The Noxapater boys’ & girls’ track teams are doing some big things this season. Not only did the Lady Tigers win their second District Track Championship, but the boys’ team also won the their district in Winona on Apr. 18. After winning the championship, the boys’ and girls’ teams recently competed in the Regional Track Competition held at Ridgeland High School. Both teams held their own, placing 2nd place overall, earning them positions in the South State Championship at St. Andrews in Ridgeland on Saturday, May 5. Good luck to the coaching staff (Coaches Gina Smith, Robert Johnson, and Derick Hopkins) and their teams as they take one more step toward achieving the ultimate season goal. The Lady Tigers results for the District Championship track meet were: Breanna Glass won first in both the Discus and Shot Put; Treasure Lynch took home first in the Long Jump and Triple Jump; Margretta Bridgemon won the high jump and the 100 meter hurdles, and placed second in 300 meter hurdles and placed 4th in the 100 meter dash; Aleaka Brown placed 3rd in the 200 meter dash; Kiera Phillips placed 2nd in the 800 meter run and 2nd in the triple jump; Savannah Ashmore placed 3rd in the long jump; Tamerica Yarbrough placed 4th in the shot put; Anna Claire Webb finished 4th in the 1600 meter run; Olivia McDonald finished 4th in the 3200 meter run; Ceanna Crosby finished 3rd in the 100 meter hurdles; the 4×2 relay team placed 3rd and the 4×1 relay team placed 3rd. The Lady Tigers results for the Regional Track competition track meet were: Breanna Glass won 1st in the girls’ shot put and 2nd in the girls’ discus; Treasure Lynch finished 1st in the girls’ triple jump and 2nd in the girls’ long jump; Kiera Phillips finished 3rd in the girls’ triple jump and 4th in the 800 meter run; Aleaka Brown finished 4th in the 200 meter dash; Olivia McDonald placed 3rd in the 3200 meter run; Margetta Bridgemon finished 2nd in both the 100 meter and 300 meter hurdles; the 4×2 meter relay placed 4th and the 4×1 meter relay placed 3rd. The boys track team results for the District Championship were: Anthony Brown finished first in the boy’s high jump, 3rd in the 400 meter dash and 4th in the boys’ long jump; Shavon Sherrod finished first in the boys long jump and 2nd in the boys 100 meter dash; Trey Baber placed first in the boys’ triple jump; Jaquan Williams placed 1st in the boys’ 800 meter run and 4th in the boys 1600 meter run; Hunter Collins placed 3rd in the 3200 meter run; Trevara Miller placed 3rd in the boys’ shot put; Chris Johnson placed 4th in both the 110 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles; Gregory McBeath placed 1st in the 300 meter hurdles; the 4×1 relay team finished 2nd, the 4×2 relay team finished 1st, and the 4×4 relay team finished 2nd. The boys’ team results for the Regional Track competition track meet were: Shavon Sherrod finished 1st in the Long Jump and 2nd in the 100 meter dash; Jaquan Williams finished 1st in the 800 meter run; Jarrious Carter finished 4th in the 1600 meter run; Hunter Collins finished 4th in the 3200 meter run; Chris Johnson finished 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles; Trey Baber won the boys’ triple jump; Anthony Brown placed 3rd in both the boys’ high jump and boys’ triple jump; Trevara Miller placed 4th in the boys’ shot put; the 4×1 relay team placed 3rd, the 4×2 relay team placed 3rd, and the 4×4 relay team placed 3rd.
