April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and the City of Louisville recognized it in a proclamation last week . Mayor Will Hill signed the proclamation from the Department of Family- Centered Programs: Families First Resource Center. “Therefore we the city of Louisville hereby proclaims April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Louisville and call upon all citizens, community agencies, organizations, medical facilities, and businesses to increase their participation in our efforts to prevent child abuse, thereby strengthening the communities in which we live,” states the proclamation. April was named National Child Abuse Prevention Month in 1983 with a focus on child abuse and neglect awareness activities.
