Girls Scouts help at Dean Park cleanup From press and staff reports

The Friend’s of Dean Park, Inc. held its quarterly Beautification Day Saturday, March 10.
It was a beautiful day to rake, hoe, plant, sweep, paint and burn rubbish according to volunteers.  A group of volunteers started at 7 a.m. and completed placing the rip rap rocks around the playground.
Approximately, 40 people came to help including Girl Scout No. 20012. Since this is Girl Scouts’ Month, their leader, Rita Eichelberger brought them to the park to help with beautification.  Their special project was to paint the garbage pails.
“They did a fantastic job of painting and cleaning,” said Elmetra Patterson of the Friends of Dean Park.
Also on Beautification Day, Mike Skipper and Brenda Keen helped with wildfire fuel reduction in the park through the Firewise Program which is funded by the county.  There are plans to do more work in the area of the park that is for a nature trail. The pubic will be informed when a day is scheduled by the Dean Park Commission and/or Friends of Dean Park.
The next regular monthly meeting  of the Friends of Dean Park will be held on Saturday, April 14, 11 a.m. at the Dean Park Pavilion.
