Union Chapel M.B. will have revival services April 24th – April
28th. The guest speaker for the week will be Reverend Dewin Perry,
Pastor of Greater Grace M.B. Church in Birmingham, Alabama. The

8th Air Force
Historical Society set for April 26-28
The 21st Annual Reunion of the MS Chapter of the 8th Air Force
Historical Society will be held April 26-28, 2013 in the Honeysuckle
Hall at Lake Tiak O’khata. New members and visitors are welcome.

Gun training class April 27
The Winston County Sheriff’s Department will host a handgun training
class on April 27. Maximum class of 25 persons. Contact Sheriff’s
office to schedule a spot.

Freedom Fund
Banquet April 27
Winston County Branch NAACP’s 33rd Annual Freedom Fund Banquet will
take place on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Lake Tiak O’Khata, Pine
Ridge Lodge: 6:00 PM Social Hour; 7:00 PM Program.
The speaker is Reena Evers-Everett, daughter of Myrlie Evers-Williams

Class reunion
April 27
The Class of 1985 will be having a 30th Class Reunion Planning
Meeting on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at 4:00 p.m. at City Hall. All
classmates are asked to attend.

25th Anniversary Memorial Day April 27
The re-activated Turner’s Battery, originally formed in Choctaw
County, will present a Confederate Memorial Day service at Odd
Fellows Cemetery on old Highway 82, Starkville, Saturday, April 27,
at 2 p.m. Along with a local United Daughters of the Confederacy
Chapter, Turner’s Battery will recognize one of the local soldiers
buried at Odd Fellows, as well as commemorate Confederate Memorial
Day, and the 25th Anniversary of Turner’s Battery hosting the ceremony.

Mt. Sinai event
April 28
Mt Sinai Missionary Baptist Church of Louisville will be honoring
Pastor L. B. Hathorn and Sis. Clara Hathorn for their dedication and
leadership at Mt Sinai for 32 years. The guest speaker for this
occasion will be Rev. Donald Bryant of Ackerman, MS and pastor of Mt.
Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in Nanih Waiya, MS. The celebration
will take place at Mt. Sinai on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 3:30 p.m.
The public is invited.

Bethel event April 28
Bethel M. B. Church Family and Rev. Ivory McDaniel, Pastor will be
having a celebration Rev, Carl Swanigan Minister of Music , 35th Year
annual appreciation. This event will take place on the 4th Sunday
April 28, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. The guest speaker will be Rev, George
Love of Mt Cannie M. B. Church. The public is invited.

Meridian Symphony Chorus April 28
Sunday April 28, 2013 at 3:00 PM Highland Baptist Church will be
hosting “A German Requiem(in English)” to words of the Holy
scripture. Tickets will be $10 at the door or in advance from MSO
choir members.

Friendship MB Church will host their Annual Youth Choir Day April 28,

Celebration April 28
Holy Ghost Temple at 128 Hill Street, Louisville will host a Glory be
to God for 75 blessed years of life for Rev. Lorene Guyse in a
Conclusion Grand Celebration, Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 3:00 P.M.
Guest Speaker Reverend Richard Moncrief from Faith Beyond Walls,
Louisville. All area churches are invited to come share in the
celebration and worship.

Church event April 28

Friendship MB Church will host their Youth Revival beginning on

Old Bond School
Reunion May 4
The Old Bond School Reunion will be held on May 4, 2013 at Murphy
Creek Baptist Church. It will be from 2-4 pm.

Disney Character Dining Day May 4
Winston Medical Center Relay for Life Team will host a disney
Character Dining Day on May 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Lake Tiak O’
Khata. The cost will be $15.00 per person which includes plenty of
entertainment, lunch, and door prizes. There will be “disney”
characters such as Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Snow White, Cinderella,
Tinkerbell, and several more on hand to mingle and entertain the
children. Paige’s Photos will be on hand to take 4×6 photos with the
characters for $5.00 each. The deadline to purchase tickets will be
April 20, 2013 to allow time to prepare proper arrangements. Tickets

EWVFD Spaghetti Supper May 4, 2013
East Winston Vol Fire Dept will have a spaghetti supper held at the
FD located on Hwy 14 E on May 4, 2013 beginning at 5:00 pm. Dine in
or Carry-out, $5 per plate. Also, will have a cake walk.
Church Carnival
May 4
Mount Pleasant No 2 M. B Church Dance Ministry will sponsor their
first carnival at the church location Saturday, May 4, 2013. Time
beginning at 10:00 a.m.- until. There will be face painting, crafts,

Homecoming to be held May 5
Liberty Baptist Church will have their homecoming service on Sunday,
May 5th at 10:30 am with lunch at 12:00 noon. Guest speaker will be
Bro. Ben McDaniel, prior pastor. Also, there will be special music.

Winston Guards to host event May 6
WINSTON GUARDS No. 2643, United Daughters of the Confederacy, will
meet Monday, May 6, at 5:30 at Lake Tiak-O’Khata.

AARP to host May 8 event
Winston County Area AARP Chapter No. 2859 will hold their May 8, 2013
meeting in City Hall at 2:00 pm. This is our last meeting before
vacation. Members are asked to please be present.

Elite Cheer May 11
North Mississippi Elite Cheer is going to host cheer tryouts for its
competitive cheer squad on May 11, 2012 in Ackerman, Mississippi.
Anyone who wishes to advance in tumbling skills, cheerleading, and
advanced stunts will benefit from this organization. NME is looking
for kids ages 3 years to 18 years of age who are boys or girls
seeking to grow. A cheer clinic held will be on May 7 at 5 p.m. for

Beth-Eden Memorial Day set for May 12
The annual Memorial Day at Beth-Eden Lutheran Church will be Sunday,
May 12 and 11:00 am with Tim Clark, lay-speaker for the United
Methodist Church, delivering the sermon. There will be a covered-dish
dinner following the worship service. The Beth-Eden Cemetery
Committee will meet on Friday, May 10 at 7:00 pm at the church.

JA Red Hills Festival 5K set for May 25
4th Annual Junior Auxiliary / Red Hills Festival 5K Run/Walk & 1 Mile
Fun Run May 25, 2013
5K Run/Walk & 1 Mile Fun Run will be held Saturday May 25, 2013 at
8:00 am.
Cash awards rewarded to top male and female winner. Top finisher in
Fun Run will also receive cash prize. Drawing held for two
additional cash prizes for Fun Run participants. Trophies awarded
to top three in each age group of 5K Run/Walk.
Pre-registration $20.00 ($25 on Race Day). Pre-registered
participants will receive a T-shirt if registration received by /

Spelling contest May 31
Do you have what it takes to stand against the rest. Sign up to
participate in I’ll Rise End of School Spelling Bee coming May 31,
2013 and June 1, 2013. Pre-register starts now and ends March 31,
2013. Late registration ends April 3. Sign up Fees: $15 before March
31, 2013, $25 before April 30, 2013. Payment must be received along
with signup sheet in order to hold your child’s spot in the Spelling
Bee. All Mississippi Public Private, and Home Schooled Children are
encouraged to compete. No area restriction all children are welcome
to participate. Grades Competing: Head Start – 8th. A cash prize up
to $350 or 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be given.

Hamm Reunion June 8
James and Margaret Hamm Reunion will be June 8 from 10:00 am – 3:30
pm at Macedonia Baptist Church Life Center on HWY 397. Come bring a
covered dish and enjoy food and fellowship with us.

Walking in Wellness each Saturday
A Walking and Wellness group will be walking Saturdays from 9:00am –
10 am at Ivy Park in Louisville. All are invited to come enjoy the
exercise and fun.

AA Meets
Louisville/Winston County Alcoholics Anonymous will now meet Monday
and Wednesday nights at 7:30 p.m. beginning the first week of January
2012 on the second floor of the community house. Meetings until then
will still take place on Wednesday and Friday nights at 7:30 p.m.

County Paparazzi
The Winston County Paparazzi is working with the MSU Extension Office
in Louisville to offer monthly meetings for photography enthusiasts.
The meetings are the fourth Thursday of each month at the MSU
Extension Office. in Louisville at 6pm and are open to everyone. For

La Leche League of Louisville
La Leche League of Louisville meets monthly on the 4th Saturday from
1-2 p.m. at the County Extension Building. La Leche League offers
