Carter, Davis take district hoops MVP honors
A pair of Louisville High School basketball standouts took top honors
in the district for the 2012-13 season.
Senior Terry Carter was named the boys MVP for District 4-4A, while
Tyesha Davis was named the girls MVP. Keke Yarbrough, a senior, was
named MVP of the District 4-4A Tournament.
Dontae Jones joined Carter on the District 4-4A Boys team, while
Ketyci Wraggs and Tiesha Griffin, joined Davis and Yarbrough on the
District 4-4A Girls team.

ECCC to hold women’s
basketball tryouts
Tryouts for the 2013-14 East Central Community College women’s
basketball team will be held Wednesday, April 17 on the Decatur campus.
Activities are scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Brackeen-Wood
Physical Education Building. Participants should provide their own
workout gear.

Golf tourney set
for this Saturday
in Ackerman
A three-man, 27-hole golf tournament organized to raise college
scholarship funds for Ackerman High School students is set for this
Saturday at the Ackerman Country Club.
The fundraising tournament is held annually in honor of Phyllis
Graham and Steven Moss, a pair of AHS teachers were tragically killed
in a bus accident while on a school trip two years ago.
The entry fee is $50 per person or $150 for a three-person team. A
meal and refreshments will be available during the day. The first
nine holes will be used to set flights for the last 18 noels.

EMCC to host
cheerleading tryouts

SCOOBA – East Mississippi Community College will conduct cheerleading
tryouts for the upcoming 2013-14 school year April 19-20 on the
Scooba campus.
Under the guidance of newly hired head cheerleading coach Amy Thomas,
EMCC’s two-day cheerleading tryouts are open to all students,
including interested male cheerleaders, who plan to attend East
Mississippi Community College on a full-time basis during the
upcoming academic year. With full-tuition scholarships available for
both males and females, the EMCC cheer squad also has plans to
participate in camps and competitions this coming year.
The tryout process will commence Friday, April 19 with registration
and warm-ups beginning at 4:30 p.m. at EMCC’s Keyes T. Currie
Coliseum located on the Scooba campus. Tryouts will also be held the
following day starting at 8 a.m. again at Currie Coliseum.
