The 2-2 Winston Academy Patriots look to get back on the winning side
of things when they play host to Immanuel Christian in a doubleheader
at 4 p.m. on Thursday.

The Patriots took a doubleheader from Central Holmes in a convincing
10-0, 12-1 manner last Thursday, but fell behind early Monday night
to suffer a 10-6 loss to homestanding Kirk Academy.

“We got down early and had a bunch of errors, but we stayed in there
and hung tough and fought back to the end,” said WA head coach Cory
Burns.

Six Winston errors helped Kirk build up a 10-0 lead, but the feisty
Patriots scored four runs in the fifth and added two more in the
seventh to cut into the Kirk lead. In fact, WA had two runners on
base when the game ended.

Kenny Wright had a double for the Pats in the game, while Taylor
Moody, Brody Burchfield, Braxton Wall, D.K. Boydstun, Logan Webb and
Michael Miller each had singles.

In the 10-0 win over Central Holmes, Burchfield, Channing Wall,
Braxton Wall, Bradley Stapleton and Matthew Talbott all had singles,
while Wright picked up the win on the mound.

Braxton Wall belted a triple and single and Carter Lane Jones had a
double and single to lead the WA offensive attack in the 12-1 win in
the nightcap.

Tristan Ables, Moody, Wright, Channing Wall and Jesse Boydstun all
had singles for the winners, while Braxton Wall was the winning pitcher.
