Child dies in car accident

From staff and press reports A 9-year-old child died Sunday, February 10, after the car the child was riding in left the road and hit a tree. A Mustang GT with 4 occupants was traveling toward Louisville on Brooksville Road around 9:30 a.m. February 9 when the vehicle left the road and hit a tree. Three of the occupants were transported to area hospitals and one was declared dead on the scene. The Winston County Sheriff’s Department was called to the scene and the Louisville Fire Department arrived at the scene on 2600 block of Brooksville Road. The Louisville Fire Department arrived on scene and began extrication process to rescue the four occupants from the vehicle. The front seat passenger nine year old Tia Parker was reported deceased on scene with her mother the driver Teela Parker transported with serious injuries to an area hospital. The Winston County Sherriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the incident but weather was indicated as a related factor.
