From press reports
The Louisville Lions Club met January 15, 2013 at Lake Tiak O’Khata.
Mrs. Tim Flake manager of Legion State Park, and Mr. Kline Shepherd were guest.
They were introduced by Mr. Bernard Tabor. Mrs. Flake gave a very interesting history of the Park and explained all the efforts of the members of “Friends of the Park”.
Mr. Kline Shepherd then explained to the group that members are selling entrance tickets to the park in order to help raise revenue to help our park to continue.
The revenues for the park is extremely important, even though the budget is funded by wildlife Fisheries and Parks; it only covers the necessities. The rental of the Lodge, Cabins and RV Park is added revenue, but the budget is still tight. Therefore members are trying to generate added revenue by selling entrance tickets.
The tickets are $42 annually and anyone 65 years or older tickets are $32.00 and can be used at any State Park in Mississippi for 1 year.
They are grateful that ten members bought tickets and also gave a donation to the park.
They are appealing to anyone interested in purchasing a yearly ticket to call Mr. Tim Flake at 662-773-8323 or Mr. Kline Shepherd at 662-773-5289. The park is a wonderful place to visit and one ticket will allow a carload to enter.
