Winston Medical Center recently partnered with Atlanta-based Morrison to operate its entire food-services department, including patient meals and cafeteria in July 2012. On November 1, 2012 Morrison’s announced that is has become the industry’s first healthcare food service company to commit to implementation of its comprehensive wellness platform across all of its healthcare business.
One of those changes is offering a new menu which includes a 44 percent reduction of sodium and 33 percent reduction in calories from traditional fare. Morrison will offer more nutritious offerings by switching to whole grains or legume based pasta and reducing sugar content. Winston Medical Center patients, visitors, employees, and community dining at Winston Medical Center will enjoy benefits of quality food choices that are healthy and nutritious.
Morrison is in the process of implementing many great changes at Winston Medical Center including a new renovation of the dining room. “When you walk into our dining room, y our experience will be a warmth feeling of a café style restaurant. We want to make our dining room a destination spot for families to come and enjoy a healthy, affordable, and delicious meal in an inviting environment. Over the past few weeks, we have had a lot of exciting changes going on in the Food Services Department,” said Lee McCall, CEO. “Winston Medical Center is focused on improving quality outcomes and is continuously advancing to make our community hospital the provider of choice for Winston County and surrounding communities,” McCall stated.
