Friends of Legion Park holds Christmas Party

The friends of Legion State Park met on December 1, to celebrate with a Christmas Party.

The festivities began at 5:00 p.m. with several members decorating the beautiful Christmas tree, when they finished it was really beautiful. During this time the children were making bird feeders using pinecones, peanut butter and bird feed. They took them home to hang in trees to feed the birds also, there was face painting going on. At 6:00, everyone found their peace at the tables, and after the Blessing of the food, led by Mr. Paul Simmons, everyone enjoyed a lumptious meal. Members brought all the food. The tables were decorated in the Christmas Motif. We had the fireplace ready for a roaring fire, but the temperature was too warm.

There were approximately 50 members including spouses and friends, and 12 children. We are encouraging couples with children to attend our functions …. As this and hopefully, they too will join our membership. We need some “younger” people to come and join us and help us “save” the park.

Rev. Jason Grosn, Pastor of Good Hope Baptist Church entertained us with many Christmas tunes and carols. Several of the ladies joined in for a “sing-a-long.” Oh, and one gentleman. We had a great time. This completed our year, but we hope for an even greater year in 2013.

Thanks to all of our members for all you have done this year. We have had a good year we will meet Jan. 3, at 10:00 for our first yearly meeting and will discuss our plans for the up-coming year.

May each and everyone have a Joyous and Blessed Christmas as we celebrate the greatest gift of all, and that is the birth of the Lord Jesus.

Merry Christmas Francis Ball, President Friends of Legion State Park
