From staff reports
On Monday, November 12, Winston Academy hosted a Veterans Day program to recognize those who had served and are serving to defend the freedoms of the United States.
Brody Richardson started the event by welcoming all in attendance. Bryan Burton led all in the Pledge of Allegiance. Colby Mitchell sang the National Anthem. Danielle Hollingsworth introduced the speaker Major Joseph Ringer, 14th Security Forces Squadron Commander at U.S. Air Force base in Columbus, Mississippi.
Major Ringer discussed his service in Iraq and his brothers’ service in Vietnam. Ringer noted that during this present time no other country supports its veterans like the USA. He added that it is the country’s veterans who proudly defended the country every day.
The program closed with the recognition of all the veterans in attendance.
A reception was held in the Winston Hall following the ceremony where all guests were treated to refreshments.
The WA Honor Society arranged the event.
