Friends of Legion State Park president Frances Ball is seen receiving a $500.00 check from James Ashley, a member of Borrow Smart Mississippi. The grant is one of the first awarded by the Board of Directors of Borrow Smart Mississippi designed to help community improvement projects in Mississippi.
Borrow Smart Mississippi was established in November of 2008 by a group of Mississippi-based cash advance and title loan lenders who recognized a need for accountability within the industry as well as a need to better educate Mississippi residents and members of the media about the important services short term lenders provide to their customers. All members of Borrow Smart Mississippi have agreed to a Code of Fair Lending to which stores must adhere. This code promises fairness, honesty and integrity in all business practices.
The members of Borrow Smart Mississippi represent 257 storefronts and an average of 643 employees across the state. Mr. Ashley noted at the presentation, “This is a way that we can give back to our customers and to the communities in which we work and live.”
