Pilot Club holds monthly meeting

Beautiful tables decorated with fall colors greeted Pilot members as they met on November 8 at Lake Tiah’O’Khata.

Mrs. Beverly Wilkes, past president of Pilot International and current member of the Louisville Pilot Club, presented the program. Beverly explained some of the new terms given by the Pilot Organization, as well as, information on scholarships given to students who are entering college and graduate students who intend to work with people with brain related disabilities.

Daphne Partridge inducted two new members, Bettie Glass and Crystal Clark, into the club as President Delaine Woodruff convened the business meeting. Pilots will be putting on a puppet show at the Winston County Library on Tuesday, November 13 at 9:30 a.m. for preschoolers.

The Education Committee, chaired by Gayle Wekenman, gave a report on the party the Pilots gave to students at the Noxapater Attendance Center and they look forward to having another party during the Christmas season. Linda White and Gwynn Hall, members of the Patriotism Committee, recently presented cards to all Veterans living in the county nursing homes.

Pilot Kathy Sinclair informed the group that the Anchor Club, sponsored by the Pilot Club, had been to the Hudspeth Center for a Halloween Party where they painted faces and pumpkins, played games, and served refreshments. She invited the Pilots to attend the next Anchor club meeting on Sunday, November 18 at 2:00 PM at the City Hall.

The clubs will jointly share a Christmas party on December 13. Pilots then voted to sponsor a banner for the Veterans Highway as presented as a joint venture by the Economic Council/Chamber of Commerce. President Woodruff then announced that Tara Woodward and Sharon Kennedy would chair and co-chair, respectively, the Pilot Pageant which will be held on March 23, 2013.
