Work continues on Thanksgiving Community Luncheon

The 11th Annual Thanksgiving Community Luncheon plans are set with lunches for about a 1000 Winston Countians planned on November 22.

Aline Haynes, who initiated the luncheon and who has built it up over the years, is working on collecting recipients’ names, garnering donations and lining up volunteers.

Haynes has received many donations from an array of businesses, churches, community leaders, and schools. She thanked the community for their support and encouraged their continued support as the day for the luncheon approaches.

The luncheon will be held at South Louisville Baptist Church in the Family Life Center on Thursday, November 22 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The luncheon aims to feed senior citizens, the less fortunate, families of troops serving the country, and others in need.

“We do this because without this effort a lot of seniors and other needy individuals wouldn’t have a lunch for Thanksgiving,” said luncheon founder Haynes. Haynes hopes that like the LHS students that many young people get involved.

Donors or volunteers may call Aline Haynes at 705-1001.
