This year’s annual Cotton Gin Festival will feature the Cotton Gin Car Show on September 29 in the Noxapater area on Highway 15 between Louisville and Philadelphia.
The Noxapater Community Alliance welcomes everyone to attend a day of arts and crafts, kids entertainment, food, a beauty pageant, and the car show. Events of the day are from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. All proceeds from the event go towards the advancement of the Noxapater Community.
The festival will be hosted by the Noxapater Community Alliance, with all proceeds going toward community needs. Booth space is also available for purchase of $25. Available space for booths is a 10 X 10 area. Electricity for booths will also be at a cost of $5 or more. Set up time for booths are from 6 to 8 a.m. the day of the festival.
The Cotton Gin Car Show welcomes cars, trucks, and motorcycles to enter. The registration fee for the car show will be $20, with registration times being from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Trophies will be awarded at 3 p.m. the same day.
The car show will consist of 34 categories of cars, trucks, and motorcycles that will be judged by certain criteria. Some of the categories of vehicles will range from mini trucks to street rod cars, and vehicles from 1900 to the present.
The scoring of the vehicles will be based on a point system in which a vehicle must obtain a score of 75 points or more to get a first prize. Some of the categories that will be judged on the vehicles are paint and car finish, wheels and tires, and upholstery and interior.
This year’s event will be held in conjunction with a Friday night, September 28 concert at the Catfish Opera. The concert will be from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event will feature the Red Hills String Band performing bluegrass, country and gospel. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Proceeds from the concert will go towards the building of Habitat for Humanity homes in Winston County.
