Winston Guards hold December meeting

Winston Guards #2643 MS Division United Daughters of the Confederacy met on December 5, 2011 in the Colonial Room at Lake Tiak O Khata. White tablecloths and red napkins covered tables that held cloth Santas, snow covered magnolia leaves and other Christmas decorations.

Our entertainment for the evening was “Steady On”. Steady On is a vocal performance group under the direction of Winston Guards member Teresa Ingram. The group presented the Christmas story as It might have been seen from the perspective of the moon and stars.

They shared their experiences on the First Christmas Night. The “Stars of the Show” were Super Star- Chandler Wells, Moon- Grace McAdory, Lucky Star-Harlee Thomas, North star- Carly Thomas, Rock Star-Nicole Roberson, falling Star- Jackson Wells, and Shooting Star- Meenna Foster. The program began with the line-up introductions. Their first song was “Look Up with This Little Light of Mine”. Their selection was “God Chooses Who he Uses”.

The cast explained the things they were seeing as the program progressed. A light so bright that they had to shield their eyes covered the stage. As the lights fades, the group overhear an angel talking to a group of shepherds telling them of the birth of the baby Jesus. They next sing “Bid and of Shepherds”, We three Kings”, “Shine on us Constellation Celebration” and concluded with “Look Up With This Litle Light of min”. What wonderful group that presented a very interesting view into the night skies of the First Christmas Night.

After the program, Connie Faye Estes, President of Winston Guards, opened the business meeting with the ritual, pledges and songs. We adjourned after conclusion of our business by holding hands and singing “Bless Be The Tie That Binds.”
