ECCC hosts MVP Baseball Showcase August 18

From press reports

An opportunity for high school baseball players to display their skills will be available Saturday, August 18, 2012, when East Central Community College’s Baseball Program hosts its annual MVP Showcase on the Decatur campus.

Neal Holliman, Diamond Warrior head coach, said the event is held to identify talented athletes that have either been recommended or spotted as viable prospects. He encourages prospective team members “to take advantage of this opportunity and to take a closer look at our baseball program and college.”

Coach Holliman encourages pre-registration for the MVP Showcase, due to the limited space available. The registration fee is $50 per player.

Activities begin at 9 a.m. with check-in and registration for position players. Also scheduled are running and stretching exercises and a parents’ meeting at 9:30 a.m., followed by a pro-type workout to test arm strength and fielding ability at 10 a.m. Batting practice for position players begins at 11 a.m. and is followed by registration and check-in for pitchers at 11:30 a.m. Players who would like to showcase abilities as position players and pitchers should register at 9 a.m.
