Bethsalem Annual Revival and Campground Meeting July 20 Bethsalem Presbyterian Church will hold its annual Revival-Campground meeting from July 20-22. Evening services will begin at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday morning at 11 a.m. Dinner on the grounds will be served after the Sunday service.

Youth Rally July 21, 2012 Truth Christian Center invites you to their youth rally. If you are bound with anything and want to be set free, come to Truth Christian Center Youth Night on July 21, 2012.

Fly tying July 21 The Friends of Noxubee Refuge will hold fly-tying on the Refuge on Saturday July 21 from 9-11 a.m. in the Refuge Visitor Center. Morning of fly-tying basics with local fly-fisherman and -tyer, Ray Iglay. Essential techniques for tying multiple types of flies and explore some common fly patterns for bream, bass, and catfish will be covered. Fly-tying materials will be provided and participants can keep all of their flies from the morning. However, participants are welcome to bring their own supplies as well. Youth-Adult Job Fair July 21

Attention Lowndes, Oktibbeha, Kemper, Winston and Noxubee County. A countywide Youth-Adult Job Fair for high school juniors and seniors and college freshmen and sophomores. Team H.O.Y.A.S. Inc. will be hosting a job fair at St. Paul UMC in Macon on July 21 from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. Come and sign-up if you want a job.

Ignite Music Workshop July 28 Ackerman Church of God will be hosting a Music Workshop, “Ignite” on Saturday, July 28, 2012 9AM-1PM. This workshop will “spark your passion and ignite your church”. Heartland Pageant August 4 The Mississippi Dixie Heartland Pageant will be held on August 4, 2012 from the beautiful Ty Cobb Complex Auditorium at the Ackerman High School. The doors will open at 12:00 noon and the pageant will start at 2:00. McMillin Reunion set August 4-5 The 62nd annual McMillin and Related Families of Louisville and Winston County will be held August 4 and 5 at Lake Tiak O’Khata.

Cookout will be on Saturday, Aug 4, on the grounds at 6 pm. Those attendiing should bring a side or dessert. Sunday, Aug 5, meeting will take place in the Colonial Room at 10:30.

There will be a program, business meeting, and buffet luncheon. Cost of luncheon is approximately $16 for adults.

Backwoods Comics Fest set Sept. 29 This week at BUBBAWORLDCOMIX.NET website a different artist is drawing and writing each strip each day in celebration of April Fools Week. The fun thing about this is that each of the six artists that are helping with this will be at the BACKWOODS COMICS FEST on Sept. 29, held at the Louisville Coliseum.

Some of them will even be part of the panel discussion at the Strand Theater the night before. These artists range from Web Cartoonists to independent artists and even a couple of them have worked for companies like Marvel & DC. Check out the website for a peek of just a few of the artists.

Annual George Bell and Sallie Mayfield Cooper family reunion August 4 The annual George Bell and Sallie Mayfield Cooper family reunion is to be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012 in the recreation hall of Gum Branch Baptist Church. From Louisville take the highway 25 bypass toward Starkville, take a left (north) on the Sturgis/Louisville road. Gum Branch Church is about 8 miles on the right. From Sturgis take the Louisville/Sturgis road south. Gum Branch Church is about six miles on the left. If you are coming by way of Webster or Ackerman, you must know the way and like dirt roads. George Bell and Sally Mayfield Cooper appear in the 1840 census of Winston County, Mississippi. They had 12 or so children but only the ones that lived to be adults are mentioned here. They and most of their children are buried in the Popular Flat Baptist Church Cemetery.

Patience P. Cooper (August 22, 1824 – November 26, 1877) married to Josiah Hudson MCCULLY on March 13, 1845. Josiah Hudson McCully (August 13, 1813 – October 20, 1895).

Nancy Jane Cooper (born in 1826), married William R. Kellum on September 12, 1844.

Adam Mayfield Cooper (May 26, 1828 – June 27, 1899), married Amanda Coleman (December 6, 1830 –June 11, 1908) daughter of Griffin R. COLEMAN and Susannah Cockrell) on September 29, 1853, in Winston County, Mississippi.

John L. Cooper (1833 -1865), joined Confederate Army in 1862 with Brother Adam, wounded at Franklin, TN in 1864 and died in yankee prison in January or February of 1865.

Mary Ann Cooper (1834 – ) married John H. Prestidge on November 26, 1851.

Sarah L. (Sallie) Cooper (June 26, 1837 – March 13, 1919) married Moses Wylie COLEMAN, son of Griffin R. and Susannah Cockrell Coleman, on April 9, 1868.

Margaret Elizabeth (Rab) Cooper (August 1, 1838 – October 10, 1913), married Joseph S. McCully (September 11, 1839 – March 8, 1921) on July 25, 1868.

Martha Jennie Cooper (June 10, 1839 – April 9, 1903) married George R. Stark, son of James Stark and Lettie E. Rowland, (December 3, 1844 – August 3, 1904) on August 19, 1870.

William J. Cooper was born in 1841 in SC. He died on July 1, 1862, while serving in the Confederate Army.

Francis Caroline Cooper, dwarf ( February 22, 1847 – 1930?) burned to death.
