100 Years Ago – July 12, 1912 HIGHT: The young people of this community enjoyed an ice cream supper last Wednesday night at the home of Mr. L. L. Parks. – Misses Tannie May and Mary Ella Snow visited their sister, Mrs. V. W. Smith last Wednesday night.

DEATHS: The remains of Mr. Thos. Stevens, Sr. arrived here [Noxapater] Wednesday from Atkins, La., where he died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dr. McAnn.

LOUISVILLE: We had the occasion last evening to inspect the bakery recently opened by Mr. W. H. Artman, an experience baker who recently came here and leased the bakery from Mr. H. Morris. Mr. Artman has overhauled the building and the oven and now has it in a clean condition and is turning out some of the finest bread that this community has ever had. – Miss Zobie Dunn of Eupora is the guest of Miss Sadye Hopkins this week. – Mr. and Mrs. McCown of Columbus are visiting Mrs. McCown’s daughter, Mrs. D. H. Sisson. – Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Fair returned this week from a visit of two weeks, Mr. Fair to Coopers Well for his health, and Mrs. Fair to her relatives at French Camp.

75 Years Ago – July 9, 1937 LOUISVILLE: Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Lake have returned to their home in Chicago, after visiting for a week here with Mr. and Mrs. C. Arthur Childs. – Mrs. T. N. Bradley returned to her home in Holly Springs after a visit here with Mr. and Mrs. Neal Prisock. -

Mrs. Mack Wade left a few days ago for Gulfport where she has accepted a position. – Mr. and Mrs. Henry Greer are the fond parents of a sweet baby girl, who arrived July 5th. They have named her Peggy Sue. – Mr. and Mrs. Paul Redd and children spent the 4th with Mrs. Redd’s father, Mr. D. H. Calvert, near Philadelphia. Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas R. Welch, a fine girl on the 6th of July.

MARRIAGES: Mr. Joe Metts Cannon and Miss Maggie Roberts were married at the Presbyterian manse U.S.A. Saturday night, July 3rd, Rev. C. P. Thrailkill officiating. – Mr. P. A. Addkison and Miss Pearl Shumaker were married on June 28th. The ceremony took place in the home of Mr. Rosmand Addkison of Noxapater, with the Presiding Elder, Rev. L. P. Wasson, officiating.

DEATHS: Mr. Aljourn S. Hamm died at his home at McLeod school community on July 2nd, having been ill for several years. Funeral and burial were at Murphy Creek.
