Mr. James W. Carter May 30, 2012 A private family graveside service for Mr. James W. Carter, 82, was held on Thursday May 31, 2012 at Enon Cemetery. A native of Winston County, Mr. Carter was a retired purchasing agent for US Motors and served in the US Air Force. Mr. Carter was of the Catholic faith. Mr. Carter died on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at his residence in Ackerman. Survivors include sons, James G. “Jim” Carter of Ackerman, John P. Mrs. Ruth’s hobbies was cooking. She was a member of Ocobla Baptist Church. Mrs. Burton is survived by her daughters, Donna Leopold of Navarre, FL & Debra Burton of Phila, MS; sons, Dewey Burton Jr. of Phila, MS, David Burton of Union, MS; Daniel Burton of Phila, MS; brother, Bert Bryant of Vicksburg, MS; (10) grand-children. Mrs. Rita Hemphill Hall, 63, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at her home in Noxubee County. Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 2nd, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. David Keen officiating. Interment was in Sardis Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Hall was born October 29, 1948, in Louisville, MS. She was beautician, and she worked at Piggly Wiggly for many years. She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Reed Hemphill; and a sister, Shirley Pruitt. She is survived by her husband, Donny Hall of Macon, MS; her father, James Hemphill of Macon. MS; one daughter, Tammy Fulton of Macon, MS; three step-daughters, Donna Williams of Oklahoma City, OK, Sherry Akins of Gordo, AL, and Amanda Price of Louisville, MS; one sister, Marlene Lentz of Hazel Park, MI; one brother, Johnny Hemphill of Louisville, MS; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
